The Clockwork

Opening: 29th of November, 2025
Until: Valentine's Day, 14th of November, 2026
Where: Kungsparken, Gothenburg, Sweden

In the central park of Gothenburg, Sweden, on an 18 × 18 meter area, you will find The Clockwork, a sound and light installation that awakens every hour. Between sunset and midnight, it not only plays by itself but also invites visitors to connect with it and play.

As the city’s great clock during the darkest months of the year, it brings light and energy to its surroundings and encourages you to pause for a moment and reflect on time and life.

Throughout the day and night, each passing hour is marked, an audible heartbeat for the hour that has passed. When darkness falls, until midnight, the experience intensifies every 10 minutes: the light grows, the sound builds, and the work offers a small spectacle.

Inside the clock

At the center of the installation is a container to which all the lights are connected. On top of it, two speakers are installed. Inside, you find the heart of the installation: a computer playing the synth in sync with the lights.

When what you see and what you hear align, the installation truly comes to life.

Klockspelet is a collaboration by Jens Thoms Ivarsson, Stadsmiljöförvaltningen Göteborg, and Jimmy Herdberg with the Kokokaka Team.
