An exploration of your inner universe. Enter your forgotten feelings. This project explores the hidden part of mind. Through four themes you visit different places in the subconscious mind.
All themes are rendered with a flow field consisting of charged nodes which either attract or repel a pen. I started to create the algorithm for the flow field during 2020. It came out of an idea about how everything relates to each other. On a micro and macro level. I found it interesting to explore the flow field, I didn’t fully understood myself how it worked. By just changing a few parameters it gave me new surprising results.
It was a very performance intense process rendering images with it. Usually it took about 10 minutes to render one image. During 2021 I refined it a couple of times and found a way to render an image in less than 30 seconds. Unfortunately I had to sacrifice some functionality to gain speed. But for this project I took the CPU intense part of the code (to create the flow field) and replaced it with a shader rendering it in no time on the GPU. This made it possible for me to get a more detailed rendering and increasing the amount of lines.
The project's color palettes are made up of hues limited to cyan-blue-purple-red-orange-yellow spectra. Think of this palette as the colour-circle with a big part of green removed.
The artwork comes in two versions. The screen artwork and a plotted version of it. You can switch to a preview of the plotted artwork as soon as the screen version is rendered by clicking on the image.
There are five artworks with a black background and five with a gray.
